StackMap Reflecting and Looking toward 2026: A Year of Progress, Partnership, and Purpose

As 2026 begins, we reflect on a year defined by meaningful collaboration with libraries and measurable progress in closing the gap between discovery and the physical library experience.

Throughout this past year, StackMap continued to strengthen its role within the discovery and catalog ecosystem by ensuring that search results lead patrons all the way to the shelf.  We successfully integrated StackMap into Ex Libris Primo NDE and EBSCO EDS New UI, enabling patrons to move seamlessly from a search result to an interactive map that shows exactly where materials are located. These integrations built on StackMap’s ongoing integrations with all earlier versions of Primo, as well as EBSCO’s classic EDS and Locate solutions. We also went live with TLC, extending integrated wayfinding to an even wider community of public libraries. In parallel, StackMap integrated with additional discovery layers, including Vega Library Discovery, broadening seamless access to wayfinding across platforms. Beyond discovery layers, StackMap was embedded directly into widely used library apps, including myLIBRO, Communico, and SOLUS, bringing in-app navigation into the tools patrons already use. Together, these advancements reinforce a growing understanding across libraries that discovery is only complete when users can confidently navigate physical spaces.

This work builds on what has long set StackMap apart. StackMap is the world leader in library mapping and wayfinding, backed by over 15 years of hands-on mapping experience and a singular focus on solving physical navigation challenges in libraries. Our platform works with any catalog or discovery layer, and our call number parser has been adapted to support any classification system, allowing us to meet libraries where they are without forcing compromises.

Because library mapping and wayfinding are our team’s sole focus, we remain nimble and highly responsive. This focus allows us to deliver customizations that reflect the unique layouts, collections, and workflows of each library we serve. Long before wayfinding became a broader conversation, StackMap was at the forefront of library mapping services, and that depth of experience continues to guide our work today.

In 2025, our blog highlighted how libraries of all sizes use StackMap to navigate change with confidence. From supporting major system migrations to enabling multilingual mapping and custom workflows, libraries relied on StackMap to maintain clarity during times of transition. Whether migrating between ILS platforms, adopting new discovery layers, or renovating physical spaces, StackMap helped ensure patrons could still find what they need without disruption. And let’s not forget library staff, for whom StackMap has simplified complex layouts, improved signage, supported more efficient training, and freed up time for staff to tackle more in-depth questions. Effective mapping supports both the patron experience and daily library operations.

As we look ahead to 2026, our commitment remains the same, but the scope of that commitment and our ambition continues to grow. We remain focused on helping libraries turn complex spaces into intuitive experiences through clear, integrated, and purpose-built wayfinding, while pushing further into new platforms, enhanced integrations, and more powerful tools that meet libraries where their users are. With a strong foundation in place and increasing momentum across discovery layers and applications, 2026 represents an opportunity to expand what effective library wayfinding can be. Alongside this growth, we’re excited to introduce new features in 2026 that will further enhance usability, flexibility, and impact for both patrons and library staff. We’re grateful to the libraries that partnered with us throughout 2025 and look forward to building on that progress together in the year ahead!
