Enhancing Community Programming with Mapping

Uintah County Library located in Vernal, Utah, implemented StackMap’s Collection Mapping product in their library one year ago. We spoke with Stacia Watkins, Library Events Coordinator, about how StackMap has been able to help expand patron experiences during community programs and help staff better address the needs of the library.

The library offers a wide variety of community programs for all ages. Recently, they have been doing literary program nights geared towards a specific literary series or genre which encourages patrons to explore new collections within the library:

StackMap has been able to help with the success of these community programs by making it easy for patrons to find collections within the catalog to participate in the community events. By finding the collections themselves we have also seen patrons exploring different areas and collections within the library—bringing new authors and genres to community discussions.

Additionally, with over 200-300 daily visitors, the Uintah library staff works hard to address the needs of patrons and the library. StackMap has helped their needs by allowing patrons to spend less time seeking help from staff as they are able to find what they need with ease. Their staff now has time to focus on planning more community events and organizing the new collections for their eager readers!

StackMap was able to help the Uintah County Library in more ways than one. Their patrons are not only more excited to explore new collections during community events, but now their staff also has more time for other library needs, as patrons feel more confident in navigating the stacks. StackMap is truly creating the optimal library experience for both staff and patrons alike in Uintah County.
